Early Times Report POONCH, May 30: A court in Poonch on Thursday acquitted a man accused of murdering his daughter in 2014. The Principal District and Sessions Judge, Zubair Ahmed Raza, acquitted Zakir Hussain, son of Abdul Majid, of Dharana in Mendhar who was facing trial for allegedly murdering his daughter Mussarat Naz, 8. During the trial, the prosecution produced 53 witnesses to prove their case against the accused. After hearing arguments of public prosecutor and the defence counsel Abrar Hussain Shah, the court observed that the prosecution has "miserably failed to prove the case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt." "The prosecution could not prove last seen theory, disclosure statements, recovery of weapon of offence and motive in the case, and the chain of circumstances could not be completed," the court ruled, as it acquitted the accused of all charges and directed the jail authorities to release him. |
