Patwari builds house on state land in Sunderbani | | | AB Sharma Early Times Report rajouri, May 30: An influential Patwari in Irrigation department of tehsil Sunderbani of district Rajouri has illegally constructed his residential house by encroaching upon state land, but despite repeated complaints to the Revenue department no action was taken. Sources told Early Times that the Patwari in question has encroached upon 3 kanals of state land falls under Khasra No. 146 and 147 in village Langer and started construction on his house in 2018-2019, which is said to be incomplete yet. "On seeing the encroachment of state land by a government employee, the locals of village Langer informed the Tehsildar Sunderbani. But except assurances nothing was done," the locals said. They said the Patwari is so powerful that he didn't stop here and also encroached upon a part of road adjoining his newly constructed house. The locals informed that they didn't give a written complaint to the concerned Tehsildar as they did not want to disclose their identity because the Patwari has "very powerful contacts." The people appealed to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to intervene into the matter and take action against the Patwari and other officials of Revenue department who showed reluctance to discharge their duties by not taking action against the erring Patwari. They also demanded demarcation of land encroached by the Patwari and demolishing the illegally constructed house. |
