Dilapidated lanes & drains: Welcome to Bhour Kullian, Bikram Nagar, Gadigarh | Residents narrates their miseries to Munish Gupta | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 4: An unconstructed bridge which connects Bhour Kullain with Bhour Camp, and dilapidated lanes and drains are making the lives of residents of Bhour Kullain and its adjoining areas miserable. Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta carried his door-to-door campaign in Bhour Kullain, Bikram Nagar of Gadigarh areas and Ward No. 73 on Tuesday and interacted with people from different walks of life. Locals told Munish Gupta that due to lack of basic amenities in their locality, the people are suffering a lot but no one comes forward to hear their suffering which shows that despite tall claims made by local councillor, former MLA and incumbent Member Parliament during elections is just rhetoric. Munish Gupta, who would contest the forthcoming Assembly elections from the Gandhi Nagar constituency as an Independent candidate, projected his vision before the locals about why he is contesting election from the constituency. He heard people's grievances patiently and assured them if he is elected from the constituency he would carry on all the left over development works immediately. Thuru Ram, a resident of Bhour Kullain said that nearly seven years ago, the bridge which connected this locality with Bhour Camp was collapsed when devastated flood washed away it. Thereafter construction of a steal bridge was started with much fanfare. But even after seven years, the bridge is still in oblivion. "Before coming the areas under Municipal Corporation limit, various lanes and drains were constructed under the MGNREGA scheme, but now the drains have been blocked and nobody seems bothered about it. The drains which empty into Londiao Nallah are mostly blocked. The nallah is not covered, with the result foul smell is making our life hellish", said Vimala Devi and Vashino Devi Nand Lal (60) told Munish Gupta that local representatives of MLA and MP deliberately left his home uncovered under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -Gramin (PMAY-G). "They provided nearly Rs 70,000 to some local who has no pacca house, but left me with unknown reasons," he said. The locals also informed Munish Gupta that a construction on a lane was started nearly 15 years ago but till date it is not blacktopped. The lane starts from Rash Pal's Shop and its tail end connects with Madan Lal's home. Madan Lal, who is an influential person, got a stay from the High Court nearly 15 years ago and created obstacles for lane construction. "From last more than one decade, we repeatedly requested successive MLAs to construct the lane but everyone bows before the influential person who got stayed from the High Court," the locals said. "Another road which passing through Bhour Kullain and starts from Reen Palace was constructed by Public Works Department but is still not blacktopped. During the rainy season, water logging makes our lives miserable," said Ajay Kumar Panch. Residents of Gurudwara Gali, near Reen Palace informed Munish Gupta that nearly one dozen people of the lane have no voter cards. Earlier (during Municipal Corporation), they were enrolled in voter list and cast their franchise but in recent Lok Sabha election their names were deleted. |
