One more leader to join PUF soon | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 19: Even as Awami Etihad Party President Engineer Rashid and his counterpart from the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement Dr Shah Faisal recently announced alliance for the Assembly elections, another influential leader from north Kashmir is likely to join the Peoples United Front in the coming days. Sources said a leader from Tangmarg constituency who has remained a minister in the past has been in touch with the PUF leadership and would join the alliance. Sources said the leader was willing to join the alliance on the very first day at the press conference but that his "advisors told him to wait for a few days." Sources said the said leader was in constant touch with the PUF leadership and talks to them quite frequently. Sources said he even greeted Faisal and Rashid for the alliance telling them that the same needed to be strengthened to keep the dynasts away. "He was told to see the public reaction, and than only join after a few days," said a source. The said leader is understood to have been having cordial relations in the Peoples Democratic Party in the past and was likely to be approached by the PDP leadership on his future plans. Sources said some of the PDP leaders had been in touch with him. "His personal relations with the PDP are an issue but the bigger issue is that he has given us a word to support to the new forum," said a source close to the PUF. Sources said the PUF looks ahead to provide all support to the said leader and wants him see win the elections. The said leader has not been able to win from the area for the last two consecutive elections and was desperate to win the this time. Despite repeated attempts the said leader couldn't be contacted for comments. |
