JAMMU, Aug 7: The number of pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi cave shrine has come down in the wake of restrictions imposed across parts of Jammu and Kashmir after Article 370 was abrogated by the Centre and the state split into two Union Territories. Official sources here told on Wednesday that ever since the advisory was issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Home Department for the tourist and the Amarnath pilgrims, to cut short their visit to the Valley, citing security reason, the Yatra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine has been affected. "Before advisory, 25,000 to 30,000 pilgrims were arriving daily at Katra to trek 13km long track to the Cave Shrine but the figure declined later," said an official. |
