DSP, 2 other cops taken off VIP duty for favouring Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 7: The constable and sub-inspector, along with a driver, have been accused of taking Farooq Abdullah in a car to a hotel without keeping security in the loop. Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken action against three cops for dereliction of duty. As Per reports Former chief minister Farooq Abdullah stormed out of his residence into a hotel where media persons were staying, one sub-inspector and constable have been suspended for dereliction of duty. Sources said both the cops were meant to guard Farooq Abdullah, a Z+ protectee. The constable and sub-inspector, along with a driver, have been accused of taking Farooq Abdullah in a car to a hotel without keeping security in the loop. There were reports that at least eight persons on his team were taken off duty, but top sources negated the inputs. On Tuesday, Farooq Abdullah claimed that he has been put under house arrest and said: "Home Ministry is lying in the Parliament that I'm not house-arrested, that I am staying inside my house at my own will." Farooq Abdullah was reacting to Home Minister Amit Shah's statement in Lok Sabha where he said that the former J&K chief minister has not been arrested as alleged by some opposition leaders. Meanwhile, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) deployed with former chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has been shunted out. Sources said after Mehbooba Mufti was moved to a hut in Hari Niwas, a make-shift jail. DSP Shaukhat Bhatt had objected to this arrangement stating that "the place was not up to the mark". Sources said DSP Shaukhat Bhatt was suspended as "this was unbecoming of an officer". "It seemed that the personal interest and association with the former CM had come in way of his duty." DSP Shaukhat Bhatt is believed to have been taken off the VIP duty. Sources also said that while Mehbooba Mufti had reportedly used a proxy server "Firechat", which gives access to internet without mobile data network. They said that an undertaking was taken in written from them Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah after both the leaders were taken into custody. "They had no electronic device with them in person and have no contact with the outside world," it stated. In major crackdown after the Centre's announcement of the scrapping of Article 370, around 400 leaders were taken into custody in Kashmir Valley on Sunday night. It is immediately not known when the leaders will be let off on bail. |
