NSA Doval visits Shopian, takes lunch with locals | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: Amidst intensified security in the Kashmir Valley, the National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval, visited parts of south Kashmir on Wednesday and interacted with locals and security personnel. He visited terror infested Shopian area and had lunch with locals in the heart of the Shopian town to give a open challenge to separatist and other groups. To give a message that on the ground the situation was normal and under control, the NSA is also seen in a 10-minute long video having lunch with locals in Mughal Bazar area of Shopian. Later, Doval interacted with jawans of the state police, paramilitary forces and Army. "We are proud of the way the J-K police has handled the anti-militancy operation in the state. You have worked relentlessly for the safety of the citizens of the state," he is seen telling the state police jawans in the video. He also lauded the role of the CRPF and Army jawans for ensuring that no untoward incident takes place. The visit comes few days after the Narendra Modi government scrapped Article 370 that gave special powers to Jammu and Kashmir. The government has also reorganised the state by stripping it off the statehood and instead carving out two Union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir with a legislature, and Ladakh without it. |
