Jammu, Aug 12: Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party & Sr. Executive Member of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) urged Shri Ramnath Kovind, the President of India to call representatives of all Jammu and Kashmir recognized political parties besides former legislators of non-recognised political parties in J&K to give them opportunity to convey their views on the latest development in J&K. Jammu and Kashmir has been divided into two separate entities as Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh. In his letter to the President of India, the Panthers Party Supremo has submitted that this latest development converting Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory has not been welcomed by the residents of Kashmir Valley nor by Jammu province. The residents of Kashmir and Jammu have not accepted this kind of treatment by the Union Govt. The Parliament has amended temporary Article 370 in accordance with the procedure adopted and power vested in the Parliament. So far as the status of J&K as a state is concerned that could not be changed by the Parliament without the consultation of the residents of Kashmir Valley and Jammu Pradesh. The residents of Ladakh had been demanding for long and their legal representative namely, legislators had been demanding this status of Union Territory. On the other side residents of Jammu province or Kashmir Division have never demanded any status like Union Territory. |
