Rahul Gandhi responds to J&K governor’s Kashmir invite, says give us freedom to meet people | | | A day after a quiet Eid in Kashmir with prayers limiting to neighbourhood mosques with reports of some people being injured in a few incidents, the authorities are now gearing up for Independence Day. On Monday, the police said Eid al-Adha festivities passed off peacefully even as authorities imposed strict controls, restricting the movement of people and prohibiting congregations in large grounds. Similar restrictions are likely to continue in the Valley with the administration preempting possible protests. The Supreme Court is also scheduled to hear a plea challenging the Centre's decision to impose restrictions and "other regressive measures" in Jammu and Kashmir following the revocation of the provisions of Article 370. Meanwhile, Twitter has suspended handles for allegedly spreading anti-India propaganda on Jammu and Kashmir following a request by security agencies. |
