With no letup in restrictions, people try to communicate with relatives through letters | | | Abid Hussain Wani

DODA, Aug 17: The complete ban on communication channels including fixed telephone, mobile and internet as a precautionary measure in order to maintain law and order situation after the abrogation of Article 370 by the government has started to take a heavy toll on the general public of erstwhile Doda district. With the passage of 12th day of restrictions on means of communication, the Chenab Valley people including Doda and Kishtwar districts are facing acute hardships without communication as they hardly have any clue of their nears and dear ones residing outside J&K and other parts of the state. While talking to Early Times, a resident of Assar block of Doda district, Souzia Begum said that after no let up with regard to the restrictions, she is forced to write a letter to her ailing mother in order to know her well-being. She said that, since last two weeks people of Jammu and Kashmir especially erstwhile Doda district who are known for their brotherhood and communal harmony are suffering without mobile, telephone and internet services. She appealed to Governor and central government to lift the restrictions in Doda district so the peaceful and innocent people do not suffer more. |
