Restrictions eased across Valley, 17 telephone exchanges functional, schools to open from Monday | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 17: The Union Government on Saturday informed that the process of easing of restrictions is already in progress and most of the telephone exchanges in the Kashmir Valley should be functional by Sunday evening. The information was provided by the government spokesperson Rohit Kansal during a presser, which was held in Srinagar on Saturday. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Swayam Prakash Pani and Director of Information and Public Relations Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar were also present at the presser. Giving details about the functionality of telephone exchanges, the spokesperson said that 17 telephone exchanges have already been made functional and the rest most would be restored by Sunday evening. The spokesperson further said that relaxations have been provided in 35 police stations across the Valley, which include north, south and central Kashmir. In the Jammu region, landlines services are functioning normally and mobile services have also been restored in five districts, added Rohit Kansal. However, the deployment of security forces will continue and the administration is closely monitoring the whole situation in the Valley, claimed the government official. So far, no untoward incident has been reported from anywhere in Kashmir, he further said. Providing details about the reopening of educational institutions in the Valley, the spokesperson said that schools beginning from primary level shall open from Monday, besides, all the government offices will start functioning normally from the same day. Restrictions were put in Jammu and Kashmir after the Centre on August 5 scrapped Article 370 of the India Constitution, under which J&K had its flag, rights and laws. |
