PHE Deptt leaves repair work of leakage pipeline midway at village Bhour Camp | Incomplete work become nuisance for residents | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 24: With the nonchalant attitude of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, the residents of Bhour Camp of Ward No 73 of Jammu Municipal Corporation have been facing nuisance created by the department, which dug a PHE pipe line for fixing the leakage problem and left it unfilled. The residents of the Bhour Camp alleged that there was leakage problem in PHE pipeline along the roadside in their village near PHC Bhour Camp nearly two months ago in their area due to which water was spreading on the road and was getting contaminated as well. "We informed the concerned Junior Engineer of PHE for the same but initially he didn't pay the heed but after repeated complaints, the department dug the area of leakage nearly 3 feet deep and fixed the leakage problem but it was not filled up," said Vikas, the resident of Bhour Camp. In order to fix the leakage problem, the PHE dug the line for 20-25 feet of length and repaired the problem but deliberately left the work of filling up it again due to which the ditch has become death trap for the commuters and residents during night hours, he said. "There is a public hand pump near this ditch installed by the government and the water of hand pump falls into it which has filled it up with water which has become breeding group for mosquitoes. Recently an elderly man fell into this ditch and got seriously injured but department has turned deaf ears to this grave problem," said Jagdish Lal. The female residents including Kavita, Satya, Darshna Devi also showed their anger against the department for its non seriousness. "After fixing this leakage problem, the department pricked the pipe line for checking the pressure from other point and the same leakage was not repaired. The residents are forced to drink contaminated water," they said. |
