Reasi, Aug 27: A one day workshop on water conservation and rainwater harvesting was held today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Chander.
Experts from the Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisations, HESCO, were the resource persons for the event who interacted with the members of Panchayati Raj Institutions of blocks Reasi, Katra, Pouni, Arnas and Bhomag.
The experts delivered informative lecture on scientific data and facts besides displaying a presentation on water conservation. They highlighted the need for rain water harvesting in the district.
Talking to Sarpanchs, the ADDC called upon them to initiate water conservation and rainwater harvesting works under MGNREGA and 14FC. He also congratulated the Sarpanchs for active participation in phase 1 and 2 of Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the district.
Those present in the meeting included District Panchayat Officer, Parvinder Kour and BDO Reasi, Sanjeev Sharma among other officers. |
