JAMMU, Aug 28: Hailing the decision of Union Government for naming Chenani-Nashri tunnel as "Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel", proposal of which was given by Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) State Executive Member, Raman Suri today said that this is biggest tribute to a stalwart who worked for One Constitution, One Head and One Symbol. Appreciating Union Minister for Surface Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari for agreeing to the proposal, Raman Suri added that this tunnel being named as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel, will remind the world, sacrifice of Mukherjee for integrating Kashmir with India. He said Shyama Prasad Mukherjee sacrificed his life for 'Ek Vidhaan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishaan' in 1953 when he was arrested and died under mysterious circumstances in Kashmir. Ever since then, demand for abrogation of Article 370 and having one national flag had been pursued vigorously. Today when both houses of Parliament have approval of doing away with this article and having just one flag, dreams of Mukherjee stands fulfilled. Suri thanked Dr. Jitendra Singh for such a move and said that 66 years after the martyrdom of great leader, justice stands delivered. |
