Three Day "Green Ganesha Campaign" concluded | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 2: Disha Volunteer Organization organized three days Green Ganesha Campaign in Jammu city from 31 August to 2nd September 2019. During the campaign volunteers requested and motivated the devotees to stop using PoP idols which are painted with harmful chemical oil paints and use only clay Ganeshas for clean and green jammu. These PoP Idols when immersed in water releases harmful chemicals like mercury and lead which proves dangerous to both aquatic and non-aquatic life. In Jammu most of the PoP Idols are immersed in the river Tawi for Visarjan. River Tawi is used for both Irrigation and drinking purpose and immersion of these Idols with chemical paints will make the already dying Tawi water even worst. First time in Jammu, Volunteers prepared more than 200 Green Clay Ganeshas colored with natural Turmeric for the devotees. These natural Ganeshas when immersed in Tawi will naturally dissolve in water without any side effects. Volunteers installed stalls of Clay Ganesha at various places in Jammu city like Gandhinagar, Trikuta Nagar, Kachi Chawni and Bakshinagar. Devotees very happily accepted the Clay Ganesha and appreciated the concerns of the Volunteers in saving river Tawi. Volunteers who participated in the campaign are Priyanka, Mantisha, Amiya, Surya, Rahil, Vasu, Divyansh, Vijay, Vishal and Abdul. |
