'Communication channels slowdown, intelligence inputs gear up' | Release of netas likely to get delayed | |
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sep 2: Even as some of the senior mainstream politicians have been put under arrest by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the administration is unlikely to release them in the coming days as the process it's feared, may get delayed. Sources said the "communication channels" that were started with some of the senior leaders including former Chief Ministers - Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have not arrived to any "major consensus" over how to restore peace if they are released on "conditions." Sources said New Delhi apprehends that such leaders could not be "trusted for their commitments at this point of time" when no major untoward incident has been reported since August 5 when the Modi government scrapped the Article 370. Sources said while one of the former CMs clearly conveyed to the "interlocutors" that there was no chance of any "peace deal" at this point of time, there was a difference of opinion between the other two. Sources said amid this uncertainty about the response from the leaders under detention there are intelligence inputs that releasing them could add fuel to fire. "There has been a huge buildup among their ranks due to Pakistani designs and if they are released there is every possibility that things may aggravate," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the New Delhi is focused more on avoiding civilian causalities than the prospective release of the leaders who have been detained. "The government is prioritizing on avoiding any civilian causalities and when this happens to be the prime focus they (politicians) may have to wait," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. |
