Agri-Entrepreneurship Start-up programme launched

Jammu, Sept 20: Two months long Agri-Entrepreneurship Start-up programme was today launched at Agri Business incubator, SKUAST-Jammu.
The training programme is sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and will be organized by Agri-Business Incubator at Division of Agricultural Economics & ABM. The program falls under RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme of the Ministry with a component for innovation and entrepreneurship. Under this scheme, RAFTAAR Agribusiness Incubators (R-ABIs) has been created and SKUAST-Jammu is selected as one of the R-ABI. The training programme will focus on Agribusiness startups as young entrepreneurs should be provided a platform that acts as a launch-pad to give wings to their creative abilities in providing innovative solution to meet today's market needs. Dr. K.S. Risam, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was the Chief Guest for launching the programme.
Speaking on the inaugural function, Dr. Risam briefed about the importance of innovation and agri-preneurship for upliftment of the agricultural sector and suggested the participants and young entrepreneurs to come up with new innovative idea for establishment of startups. He briefed about UDGAM (Agri-preneurship Orientation programme/ Pre Seed Stage Funding) and PRAGATI (Seed Stage Funding as Grant in Aid to Startups), a Launch pad for Agri-Startups and an initiative of Agri Business Incubator, SKUAST-Jammu.
He wished the participants an informative two months of training programme. Dr. D. P. Abrol, Dean, FoA briefed about the role of agribusiness Incubators and stressed on the need to organize the agricultural sector and allied activities for establishing startups. Earlier, Dr. Jyoti Kachroo, Prof. & Head and PI, R-ABI Jammu delivered the welcome address. She highlighted the focus areas to be covered during the training programme. She also assures the participants about the mentorship and other facilities to be made available during the programme.
