Measles Rubella surveillance workshop held at Rajouri | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Sept 24: To sensitize the common masses and medical staff, the Health department in association with World Health Organisation today organised a workshop on the measles-rubella elimination campaign. The workshop was held as a part of measles-rubella elimination campaign initiated by the ministry of health and family welfare, Government of India to eliminate measles and control congenital rubella syndrome by 2023. The workshop was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad. During the workshop, the resource person sensitized the participants about the MR Surveillance methodology. They were further made aware about the steps to be followed if a suspected case of Measles/Rubella is reported. "It involves first Diagnosis, then follow-up then confirmation and last not but the least the laboratory confirmation", they were told. In his address, the DDC said that the collective success of society is directly linked with social health indicators. "The need of the hour is to generate awareness among the public about the root cause of measles and the methods which can be used to control this disease so that the mortality rate among infants and young children can be minimized" he added. He said that the Health sector is a priority sector as it has a direct relation with the public. |
