| Awareness programme on financial literacy organized | | |

Jammu, Sept 24: RBI Jammu in collaboration with Department of Economics of GDC Reasi organized an awareness programme on financial literacy. The event was attended by College students and faculty members. The Chief guest of the event was Satya Narayan, General manager, RBI Jammu. He deliberated upon various functions of RBI in the development of economy and creating awareness amongst general masses. He emphasized role and responsibilities of RBI in terms of issuing currency, regulating commercial banking in India and explained why RBI is considered as the lender of last resort. Ashish Kumar, Manager RBI provided important briefs on the said topic and focused primarily on the historical background of RBI. He also discussed the importance of financial literacy and how a financially literate person can get benefitted from various schemes of the Government. An open house quiz competition was conducted by B V S Venugopal, Assistant Manager, RBI in which students as well as faculty members were given prizes for their responses.
Dr Prem Singh, Principal GDC Reasi in his concluding remarks thanked the RBI team for their cooperation and support and told students that information and knowledge gained from the event should be further disseminated. The proceeding of the event was conducted by Esar-ul- Ayub Assistant Professor Economics. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Kaurab Singh, Assistant Professor of Biotechnology. |
