Kathua, Oct 2: In view of upcoming election of Chairpersons to the Block Development Councils a meeting of Nodal Officers was today chaired by the District Panchayat Election Officer, Dr. Raghav Langer to discuss all the modalities for the conduct of free and fair election.
The DC sought a detailed report from Nodal officers about the arrangements. They said that the arrangements including water and power supply, accommodation for the polling parties, ramps etc are ready. On the occasion, the election training was also imparted to the elections officers and other concerned officials by master trainers.
The DPEO also informed that the provisions of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) shall also come into force with immediate effect, adding all the provisions of MCC will apply to all the Panchayat Halqas (rural areas) and will be applicable to all the candidates, political parties along with the State and Central governments.
He further informed that ballot boxes would be used during the elections of the chairpersons of the BDCs as the election shall be held through secret ballot. |
