ACB expedites probe into irregularities of Municipal Committee Pahalgam, PDA

Anantnag, Oct 24: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has expedited investigation into huge irregularities that had surfaced at Municipal Committee Pahalgam and Pahalgam Development Authority in year 2018.
According to reports, ACB sleuths raided the offices of Municipal Committee Pahalgam and Pahalgam Development Authority on Wednesday and sought relevant information from both the offices.
"Team visited the office on Wednesday afternoon and sought some information and relevant papers," a PDA official told Early Times, however pleaded anonymity.
The ACB sleuths visited office of Municipal Committee office, confirmed MC Pahalgam President Rayees Ahmad Lone, however he said that he was unaware about the information the ACB team has collected from the Municipal Committee Office.
In year 2018, Vigilance Organization of Kashmir (VOK) now Anti-Corruption Bureau registered cases against Municipal Committee Pahlagam and Pahalgam Development Authority after huge financial and other irregularities surfaced.
"It has been intimated that dozens of illegal appointments and financial irregularities have been committed in Municipal Committee, Pahalgam in-connivance with the officials. It has further been intimated that Chief Executive Officer Pahalgam Development Authority has conducted an investigation into the matter. So in this connection you are directed to obtain a detail report from the concerned and share the same with this office immediately for further necessary action," reads the letter in possession of Early Times.
Similarly, Pahalgam Development Authority is under scanner over illegal constructions that have came at Pahalgam and others areas including Movera area of tourist spot.
Sopurces told ET that the process raising illegal constructions at Pahalgam hasn't stopped yet and these days the illegal structures too are coming up at Pahalgam .
