8.3 percent polling recorded in 307 BDC blocks
217 Independents, 81 BJP, 8 JKNPP, 1 INC members elected

Srinagar, Oct 24: Chief Electoral Officer Shailendra Kumar on Thursday said "In the Block Development Council (BDC) polls that were held in Jammu and Kashmir, 98.3 percent polling were recorded in the polls. While as, election was held on 307 blocks, out of 316 blocks and 27 were elected unopposed.
Informing about the Block Development Council Chairperson Kumar said out of 307 BDC blocks, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won on 81 blocks, Independent candidate have won on 217 blocks, Indian National Congress (INC) on 1 block, Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party won on 8 blocks. While as BSP did not win on any block.
There were four political parties in fray for BDC Chairperson Election including BJP, JKNPP, INC and BSP. While as National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party were not participating in the election.
CEO Shailendra Kumar said that one Congress candidate has fought election in South Kashmir district of Pulwama while as other candidates name was rejected.
As per the BDC final result sheet party wise status, out of 128 total blocks in the Kashmir Division, BJP has won on 18 blocks, while as INC has won one block in Pulwama district. While as Independent Candidates won on 109 blocks.
While as per the voter turnout in Kashmir Division, Srinagar witnessed 100 percent votes, in Anantnag 90.5%, Bandipora 97.6%, Baramulla 97.1%, Budgam 94.9, Ganderbal 95.1, Kulgam 93.9, Kupwara 95.9, Pulwama 86.2, Shopian 85.3.
While on the other hand in Jammu division, BJP won on 52 blocks, JKNPP on 8 blocks and Independent Candidates won on 88 blocks. There were total numbers of 148 blocks in Jammu division.
As per the voter turnout in Jammu Division, Jammu witnessed 99.5 percent votes, Kathua 99.4, Kishtwar 99.5, Poonch 99.3, Rajouri 99.5, Ramban 99.2, Reasi 99.7, Samba 99.6, Doda 99.2 and Udhampur 99.4 percent.
In Ladakh Division there were 31 blocks, including 16 in Leh and 15 in Kargil. In Ladakh Division 11 blocks went to BJP and 20 to Independent Candidate. While as per the voter turnout Leh witnessed 97.3 and Kargil had 98.3 percentages.
While being asked about the non-participation of major political parties in the BDC Chairperson Election, CEO Shailendra Kumar said that we had sent our officials to political parties to check their mood and mind.
He added without naming any political party, that political party wanted to meet their leaders and then took their decision. One political party said that they have postponed their meeting while other changed their mind.
