Former officers join Citizens' Forum to mitigate discrimination with Jammu region

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 29: In order to project the issues pertaining to Jammu region in a better way, several former top officers have joined the Citizens' Forum.
The former top officers including K B Jandyal; former PSC member, Prem Gupta; former IGP, PP Sharma; former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Col (Retd) Shiv Choudhary, J K Vaid; former Director Geological Survey of India, S P Sharma; senior journalist, Shiban Khaibri; Chairman Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust, Maj (Retd) C V Singh, Capt (Rted) O P Sharma and others have decided to join the Citizens' Forum to take up the issues of discrimination and mishandling with the future of Jammu region.
Citizens' Forum President R K Chadha has thanked the former senior officers who consented to join Citizens' Forum to mitigate the discrimination being meted out to Jammu region.
Meanwhile, the Citizens' Forum has criticized the ill-conceived project of shifting of Jammu High Court to Raika-Bahu forest area by the government.
R K Chadha said that all the Forum members fail to understand that what interest the highly upright and honest outgoing Governor Satya Pal Malik and the Chief Secretary have in sanctioning this ill conceived project, where more than 30000 trees are to be cut and sold in the market. As is the practice, powerful leaders always influenced the decent and honest officers to do this dirty job for them and they again further influenced the lower rung officers to give clearances. We know these small rung officers are always made scapegoats in big frauds and that too particularly officers from Jammu region.
The Forum said that life span of J&K people is estimated average at 80 years, which is highest in the country. We are very much interested in decongesting the Jammu city but not at the cost of our health and life. If this project is completed, the Raika-Bahu Forest and wild life sanctuary forest which are the lungs of Jammu city and its lifeline, will turn Jammu into a gas chamber equal to New Delhi in its pollution level.
Forum requested Governor Satya Pal Malik to cancel this project and save the life of Jammu citizens.
