We have no true leader from Jammu (Region) | | Mahadeep Singh Jamwal | 10/29/2019 10:14:22 PM |
| The history book of politics when shuffled compels us to acknowledge that practically we have no leader in Jammu who could lead Jammuities towards a better future and have the vision of developing this region on modern landscape. To arrive at the conclusion, we have to focus on some qualities for better leadership. It is believed that good leaders create a vision, passionately own it, and relentlessly drive it to completion. They have a clear, exciting idea of where they are going and what they are trying to accomplish and are excellent at strategic planning. A good leader is a self actualized leader. Self actualization is the highest form of human growth, someone who is self actualized is a fully functioning human being. A good leader has been able to move above and beyond any egoistic and primitive need for power, attention, or establishing his personal agendas and works with the intention of good-for-all but our leaders from Jammu are always after power game and many of them sand exposed by Kashmir politics for their individual agenda rather than goodies for Jammuites. Jammuitie leaders just tap the emotions of Jammuites and are totally blank in vision. Courage is the most identifiable outward trait. Courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it, all others depend. One of the more important qualities of a good leader is courage. But having no courage to speak of its subjects, leaders from Jammu simply become stooges of Kashmir politics and believe in placing one of their family members in every political party to remain connected with the party that comes to power to achieve their personal goals. These are frequent turn coats just to save their corrupt earnings and to remain in lime light. With integrity, you have nothing to fear, since you have nothing to hide. With integrity, you will do the right thing, so you will have no guilt. The core of integrity is truthfulness and it is badly missing from our leadership. Simply we can say that we have leaders in quantity but not of quality. What adjective can be used for these crafty politicians who are consistently befooling us and recurrently deceiving? Even the dictionaries have no appropriate word. We do not find any leader who has not amassed a lot of wealth during his political career and who has not been accused of adopting corrupt practices. There may be few one to be absolved of such allegations but society requires Lord Shiva's third eye to look for them. The scandals of crores of rupees involving our political leaders, I think, would have been the inspiration to Mehmet Murat ildan, Turkish playwright, Novelist and thinker, to say that "Instead of politicians, let the monkeys govern the countries; at least they will steal only the bananas!" The Jammu history book has to record that ultimate Jammuities greatest tragedy of the discrimination, oppression and bad governance, on one hand is the strident clamor of Jammu politicians and on the other is the appalling silence of the good and literate people. Illiteracy does not impede the practice of democracy, as witnessed by the success of democracy in India despite the high illiteracy rate. One doesn't need a university diploma to realize that the ruler is oppressive and corrupt. On the other hand, to eradicate illiteracy requires that we elect a fair and efficient political regime. But we Jammuites have never used our vision to elect such leaders but had always elected illiterate and inefficient persons as to lead us. We must be ashamed of our vision. Politicians are complicated people and have many secret pockets than on their visible wearing and squandered government exchequer finds its place in these secret pockets without being detected and noticed by the common man and on the law pages, these politicians twist the framing of laws that suits to them most and little to the common man. In a system where law breakers are law makers and the person mandated by the constitution as only authority to provide a neat and clean government has pushed tainted ministers upon us. Ministers with criminal cases are not limited to the Centre alone; even in state assemblies across the country. A google search reveal that in present government 22 ministers have criminal cases against them according to the self-sworn affidavits filed by them. Of these, 16 have grave criminal charges registered against them. These criminal cases include terrorism, treason, arson, murder, rape, robbery, burglary, communal disharmony, electoral violations, and kidnapping, among others. Six ministers have declared cases related to encouraging hostility between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony (IPC Section-153A) and deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs (IPC Section-295A). Still we have to worship forcibly the constitution. It doesn't make them good but wicked politician. Most of the leaders from Jammu are illiterate and many literate are stooges of the Kashmir based parties and other one are not accepted by the voters, who too are visionless and are easily trapped in the booby traps of these leaders, who have divided the society on caste and religion. A good leader stands above any specific religion but leaders from a typical political party in Jammu always exploiting the sentiments of particular community on one issue or other (mostly religious) and claiming to be the ambassador of peace and development whereas they are the spoilers of the society and have been indulging in mal-practices in the guise of so called Jammuites leader. It will not be wrong to brand them as Wolf in lamb's skin. Here again Mehmet Murat ildan's saying proving to be true that ? "A silver-tongued charlatan and a half-wit society are made for each other! When these two come together in an election, a great disaster happens: Charlatan comes to power!" This is the true reflection of our Jammuites leaders and voters. |
