People demands removal of encroachment from cremation ground
10/30/2019 9:17:46 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 30: Residents of village Lower Barnai on Tuesday appealed to district administration for removing encroachment on cremation ground by the land grabbers.
According to press release, the residents expressed resentment against the lethargic approach of the district administration for its failure in tightening noose around land grabbers.
They alleged that land measuring 14 Kanals and 11 Marlas was kept for Shamshan Ghat by the villagers but some locals encroached upon the aforesaid land stretch.
"We earlier approached Deputy Commissioner for removal of encroachment from the aforesaid cremation ground and DC after proper demarcation of cremation ground with the assistance of revenue authorities removed the encroachment and restored back the land from the encroachers," they said. "During demarcation in presence of the revenue agencies some years back, the cremation ground land was segregated by concrete pillars and iron poles were raised to sort out the issue," they said.
"On October 19, 2019 the aforesaid persons again encroached the cremation ground land by forcibly digging out the concrete pillars and unloading Mulba by means of 8 to 10 tractor trollies. The aforesaid act of encroachers has outraged the religious sentiments of people living in the vicinity", they alleged adding that the encroachers also took away six iron poles installed by the revenue authorities.
They requested Deputy Commissioner to issue direction to the SHO Police Station Domana for registration of FIR under Sections 447A, 295-A and 379 RPC against aforesaid persons and also direct SDM Jammu North to remove the encroachment made by the aforesaid persons by replacing the poles to the original position.
