JeM terror outfit likely behind Kulgam killings | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 30: Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohd (JeM) is likely to be involved in Kulgam killings in which 5 non-local labourers were killed on Tuesday evening. Reliable sources told Early Times that a group of six militants including 4 Pakistan militants affiliated with banned outfit JeM, barged inside the rented accommodation of slain labourers in Katrasoo village of Kulgam district. The militant group, according to sources, led by local JeM militant Rouf Ahmad kidnapped the labourers before killing them on Katrasoo-Behibagh road. The slain labourers belonging to West Bengal were doing mason jobs and putting up in a rented accommodation. Providing details, sources revealed that the militant outfit JeM had planned the execution of no-local labourers to terrorize non-locals working in the district. Kulgam Police said that they have registered a case and started investigation. "We are ascertaining the details and trying to find out which militant group carried out the attack but prima facie it appears that JeM carried out the attack," a police officer told Early Times, however, wished anonymity as he is not authorized to speak to media. It is worthwhile to mention here that the attacks took place on a day a delegation of parliamentarians from the European Union was visiting Kashmir, the first group of lawmakers from India or abroad to travel to the state after Centre ended the state's special status under Article 370 on August 5. Since the Centre's decision on Article 370, terrorists have been targeting truckers and labourers, mainly who have come to the Valley from outside Kashmir. On Monday, a trucker from Katra area of Reasi district was killed by militants in Anantnag, police said. This was the fourth truck driver to be killed by militants since August 5. On October 24, terrorists killed two non-Kashmiri truck drivers in Shopian district. On October 14, two terrorists, including a suspected Pakistani national, shot dead the driver of a truck having Rajasthan registration number and assaulted an orchard owner in Shopian district. The driver was identified as Sharief Khan. Two days later, Punjab-based apple trader Charanjeet Singh was killed and Sanjeev injured when terrorists attacked them in Shopian district. The same day, a brick kiln worker from Chhattisgarh was shot dead by militants in Pulwama district. |
