Jammu, Nov 5: Kiran Wattal, ex- commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, has been elected unopposed as vice-president of this National sports body for the term of four years in an election of Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI), which held today at Indian Olympic Bhawan New Delhi. Sudhir Mittal of Punjab and Dr S. Shanti Kumar Singh of Manipur too were elected unopposed as President and General Secretary respectively. Kaushik Bidiwala of Gujarat was elected treasurer, whereas Anil Mishra of UP and Subharao of AP were elected joint secretaries. The elections were held under the guidance of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) & Interbational Gymnastics Federation to further strengthen the federation and make sure that the sports fraternity does not suffer anymore. IOA president, Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, IOA general secretary Rajeev Mehta, IOA (J&K) general secretary Ashutosh Sharma and Gymnastics, J&K, general secretary Ravinder Singh were also present on the occasion. Former General Secretary FIG was the observer from FIG. Wattal has been performing various activities in the field of sports and awarded with a number of medals for outstanding performance at state and national level. By virtue of this sports background, his services were utilised for prestigious championships at Asian and national levels. |
