Two held in Uri with drugs, arms, ammunition: Police

Srinagar, Nov 5: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of drugs,arms and ammunition Dulanga area of Kamalkote in Uri town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
A police spokesman in a statement said that continuing its drive against drug dealings and illegal supplying of arms and ammunition, Baramulla Police today arrested two drug peddlers besides recovered huge quantity of drugs, arms and ammunition.
"Acting on a credible input received about the illegal smuggling of Drugs and Arms near village Dulanga area of Kamalkote in Uri nearby LoC, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Uri and SHO Uri reached at the spot and arrested two persons including a lady involved in the drug supply offences. Officers recovered Brown Sugar sealed in two packs from the duo," he said.
"When the officers spoke to them, they learnt that the lady had concealed some drugs (Brown Sugar) in a cow shed near her residential house. Accordingly 04 packets of Brown Sugar weighing 04 Kgs (approx) were recovered during the search of the place. Moreover following the due procedure, a search of her residential house was undertaken in presence of the respectable citizens of the area. During the search an amount of Rs 3.28 lacs was also recovered from her residential house," he added.
"During the course of investigations it was revealed that some more contraband substance has been concealed in the nearby forest area. Accordingly the search of the area was undertaken which led to the recovery and seizure of Brown Sugar weighing approximately 02 Kgs, Arms and Ammunition which includes live rounds and magazines," he further added.
"Case FIR NO 117/2019 stands registered at PS Uri in this regard. Further investigation in the matter is in progress," said police spokesman in a statement.
