Jammu continues to be in subordination to Valley even after revocation of Art. 370
11/5/2019 10:56:19 PM

Ravinder Jalali

Even after abrogation of Article 370 and 35A from state of J&K, Jammu continues to be at the receiving end of Justice. It seems that the centre has developed a mindset where it sees and realises the importance of Kashmir only and with the result, Jammu continues to be in siege, even after lapse of around three months of removal of anti-India articles like 370 and 35A. Although Ladakh has got its share and got freedom from the clutches of Valley supremacy, Jammu continues to be under siege. On one side Govt. accepts that it is normal even in Kashmir, not to speak of Jammu Division but the fact of the matter is that the entire Jammu region is virtually under the scanner of security grid. On each and every nook and corner ranging from lakhnanpur to Banihal to Doda and Baderwah and even in the city of Jammu, there still exits the barricades and Nakas.
While on one case the entire Jammu division is peaceful, which is a fact and there is no denying the fact but the question arises why Jammu still under siege rather under subordination of Kashmir. If it is required in valley as every thing is not normal, as per ground situation, offices not working properly, business not operating as usual, public transport is also off the road or recently non-kashmiri truck drivers, who were engaged in transporting fruits to other parts of country, were assassinated but in Jammu it is normal. Businesses and other establishments and marriages and social, economical and political activities are going on as usual then question arises why Internet facilities have been deprived off to the Jammuites.
Needless to mention that the Internet facility has become the life line for everyone and it becomes difficult to carry on the routine work with out net facilities.
It is not for the first time the jammuities are facing such situation like subordination to Kashmir, not a fair deal from the government, but the tragedy is that even after abrogation of Article 370 and under a central rule, being a union territory, things continues to be same for the people of Jammu division, which clearly shows that the Jammu division continues to be in shackles of Valley.
Former Union Minsters, MPs and other dignitaries visited Srinagar as a member of a peace team to understand, feel and share the pain of the Kashmiri innocent people. The question is now who suffered pain and trauma due to non availability of net facility in valley and who is responsible. Now the question is that the problem is confined to Valley which is just 33% of the area and just less than half of population of state but the entire state which comprises of Jammu and Ladakh regions and comprises of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Christians are held as hostage for no fault of theirs.
Perhaps their fault is just they are nationalists and believe in the ideology of secularism, pluralism and democracy.
The fact of the matter is that sincerely no body was interested in its solution. Had they been sincere and serious, the solution would have been found. Now Prime Minister Modi has understood it and finally found the solution which has been acceptable to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh in full except some reservation from certain selected political parties in valley for their vested interest.
First let me put it straight for them that Kashmir was not the entire J&K State but is a small part of J&K and does not represent the aspiration of the entire J&K state. The majority of the Indians take Kashmir for J&K as the entire State. The same perception is about the political class of India.
The unfortunate part is that there is no leadership in Jammu even from BJP as well who can take up with the Government to free Jammu division from the clutches of valley tilted administration to remove all these bottlenecks out of Jammu division so that normalcy is returned to Jammu and people will feel a sigh of relief. It is very difficult in present century to be with out net. How one can book the ticket for any means of transport whether is it air, rail or road For the people who have investments in stock marker also suffers terrible loss because, they can not buy or sell when it is required. There is no body to tell the people that the unrest is in a part of J&K i.e. Kashmir Valley and not the entire J&K State and the problem is basically communal based on the two nation theory of 1947 which has been rejected by India. Another significant point is that all valley people are not involved in it. There are Kashmiri pandits, Sikhs, Shias and other silent Muslim majority who believe in Indian ideology, who are not part of this vicious agenda. Maharaja Hari Singh, the then Ruler of J&K State, in the exercise of his Sovereignty in and over the said State, executed the Instrument of Accession and the same was accepted by Governor General of India. Mountbatten on 27th Oct. 1947.
Another important dimension is that it had never been a political problem as propagated by so many parties who are Kashmir based. Had it been a political then all the people irrespective of their faith should have been part of it which is not. It was only a section of Muslim people in valley who are playing in the hands of Pakistan and are their paid agents. Had it been so sacred, then their member of their families would have joined the struggle but they are in other part of country of outside the country. The stone pelter hired by thee separatists are from lower strata of society. If it would have been a political problem then the KP would not have been hounded out of their hearths and homes. It is purely a religious problem based on two nation theory, which resulted into partition and creation of Pakistan. The religion is the only bondage between Kahmiri Muslim separatists and Pakistan.
The different people had different solutions to the so called Kashmir problem from their own perspective but Modi -Amit shah Jodi hit the nail right on the head and 72 year problem got solved. The fact is that Kashmir acceded legally and constitutionally to the Dominion of India. Both the Maharaja and the people of J&K requested the Government of India to accept our accession which has been accepted. Legality of the document was that once the king, the ruler decides the accession it is final and irrevocable and need not consult the wishes of the people of the kingdom. It is time for the Government to remove all the hardships from Jammu to bring normalcy by restoring all the communication channels and the businesses run smoothly.
