Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 10: The unscheduled power cuts in the valley since the heavy snowfall have irked scores of students who are currently going under annual board exams for the class 10th and 12 th.
The valley saw the dip in temperature last week, while as the untimely snowfall was witnessed from Wednesday midnight.
The heavy snowfall took a heavy toll on power while playing hide and seek with the residents.
Majority of places in the Srinagar and other adjacent areas under unscheduled power on and off, while as authorities are doing all they can to restore the power fully as soon as possible.
"My annual board exams are going and since I have to prepare day and night. But these unscheduled power cuts have annoyed me off. There are power cuts every fifteen minutes", said Mehnaz a student.
I don't know how I will study in irritating power cuts, she added.
The annual board exams by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education schedule for the class 10th and 12th commence ending September. The date sheet for both the class of 10th and 12th were announced after the students remained off from the schools for over three months.
"It is the crucial year for me as my class 12th exams are going on and that too I belong to medical stream. And, since the snowfall the power has been playing hide and seek and I cannot concentrate in such conditions", said Noman, another student.
Meanwhile, the parents of the students are disappointed with how the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department is handling the power schedule.
"My two sons are not able to cope up with the studies with the unscheduled power cuts and now I am sending them to their cousin's home, where is electricity. The administration should do something to make the things smooth and make us rid of unscheduled power cuts", said Shakeel, a parent.
Meanwhile, an official in the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department said that due to untimely snow many trees felt on the electric wires making it difficult to restore power fully. While as the administration is doing all they can to run power smoothly after the first snow fall.
He added, "Our employees and line man are working tirelessly to make the electricity fully functional across the region".
