Punjabi Lekhak Sabha to hold Elections on December

Jammu, Nov 10: Punjab Lekhak Sabha (Regd.), Jammu today conducted a meeting of its Executive Committee and organized a fortnightly literary meet at Tagore Public Hr. Secondary School, Rani Talab, Digiana, Jammu. S. Harjit Singh Uppal, President, Punjabi Sahitik Sabha, R S Pura presided over the literary meeting of PLS (J). Poets and writers of Punjabi attended the literary meeting and presented their creations.
Dr. Monojit, President, PLS welcomed the poets and writers who attended the meeting. It was resolved to conduct elections of the Sabha's President whose tenure is expiring on 39th November, 2019. The committee announced that nominations and suggestion will be entertained upto 24th November, 2019 and election under the appointed Election Commissioner would be conducted on 1st December, 2019.
It also invited to register or re- register for membership upto 24th December, 2019.
The committee also put for the proposal to project their demand of releasing Best Book Awards announced by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages as well the State Awards announced for the last few years but not given to the writers of different languages, including Punjabi. They proposed to represent the case jointly by literary organizations of different languages.
Literary meeting presented the literary creations dedicated to the life, contribution and principles of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Sikhism, on the eve of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The poets who recited their poetry included Baldev Singh Panchhi (from Kashmir), Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Jang S. Verman, M S Karma, Amar Singh Kuka, Dr. Monojit, Rajpaul Singh Mastana, Dr. Vinod Nirmal and Harjit Singh Uppal. Hardeep Singh Deep, Dr. Gurdeep Kaur and S. Gurmeet Singh also shared their views on this occasion.
In his address S. Harji Singh Uppal appreciated the poetry recited in the programme.
