AOI urges LG to mitigate sufferings of Local/Micro Small sectors | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 3: Expressing astonishment over the prolonged silence of the authorities concerned to initiate immediate corrective and remedial measures in addressing the woes and grievances of the local Micro/Small entrepreneurs, the Association of Industries (AOI), Gangyal has said that denial of their rightful due shall only force closure of the units. In a largely attended AOI meeting, most of the senior entrepreneurs present were apprehensive that consistent denial of their just dues shall only force closure of almost the entire segment of the local Micro/Small sector which is largest sector providing employment to over 3 lakh local populace, second largest after the J&K Govt. AOI president Rattan Dogra said the Association firmly believes that unless and until the core issues as repeatedly projected by the Association related to rapid industrialization are suitably and favorably resolved in time bound manner, UT of J&K may not perhaps be able to seek and attract fresh investment in Industrial sector as envisaged. Withdrawal of investment proposals and plans by big houses including Blue Star, Patanjali, Dabur and others are only few of the examples in this regard. Lack of Special Fiscal Package both for existing and new units is one of the major constraints in our land locked militancy infested state situated far away from main trade centres. Association is hopeful that both the UT and Central Governments shall exhibit same urgency and involvement as has been shown in the case of the Horticulture sector. AOI further believes that the casual approach as being presently adopted confirms that local Micro/Small sector which only provides employment to local populace is least priority despite UT status to J&K which should be corrected in the first phase. Any set of Special Fiscal Incentives if at all under consideration of UT/Central Governments to attract fresh investment should be extended both for existing and new units irrespective of their age, location and size without any hindrance of Negative lists. Association requests the Lt Governor and his Advisors to intervene in the matter on priority basis and to take appropriate measures to mitigate the sufferings of Local/Micro Small sectors. |
