Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 16: Although it has been long awaited demand of installation of CCTVs cameras in examination halls in government schools with an objective of conducting transparent and fair examinations but the idea doesn't seem to be realized in near future.
After number of incidents of mass copying in the government schools especially in remote areas in past, the demand of installation of CCTV Cameras in examination halls which are conducted by Board of School Education (BOSE), has been raised at different platforms so the menace of mass copying could be curbed.
Sources told Early Times that recently a meeting of Government teachers was held with education department regarding various issues and wherein need of installation of CCTVs camera was discussed. "We discussed the demand of CCTVs of school education department, who first appreciated the demand but later showed some helplessness in execution of it citing financial constraints as huge funds are needed for this project," they said.
They further said that during meeting, the Delhi Government's initiative of installation of CCTVs in all government schools was also mentioned and it was demanded that in similar way such the initiative should be taken in Jammu and Kashmir. "Around 700-800 examination halls are set up in Jammu province for conducting of 10th and 12th exams and likewise in Kashmir region also. At least the project should be taken up on pilot project basis initially," they said further adding that the installation of CCTVs will minimise the practice of copying. It has been observed that at times teachers are also involved in mass copying to get good result to save themselves from any action for poor results. "If this project becomes a reality in future, the entire control of CCTVs will be in the hands of Director School Education of both region as well as the Chairman JKBOSE," they said.
