JAMMU, Dec 18: A two day training programme for newly elected Block Development Council Chairpersons of Jammu and Kashmir concluded, here this afternoon. Organized by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, the training programme was structured to make the participants understand their role and responsibilities. The participants were made aware about the various acts, rules in place for the sustainable development of the Gram Panchayats. The event also witnessed experience sharing and mutual learning among the participants. Experts from various parts of the country delivered lectures through power point presentation. The main resource persons were Senior Consultant and Assistant Professor Centre for Panchayati Raj, NIRD & PR, Hyderabad, Mohammad Taqiuddin and Pratyusna Patnaik; Director Social Audit Jharkhand, Gurjeet Singh; Sarpanch Chhina Gurdaspur, Panthdeep Singh; Sarpanch Maniram Phalidara Sikkim, Topda Bhutia and several others. The speakers said that the elected representatives have a great opportunity to serve the people and make masses aware about their rights and responsibilities, besides the centrally sponsored schemes meant for their welfare. |
