Horizon XI lifts J&K UT T20 Friendship Championship

Jammu, Dec 18: Horizon XI trounced K C Sports Club by 78 runs in a good contest and lifted the J&K UT T20 Friendship Championship at Parade Cricket Ground, here today.
Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, CEO JKCA was the chief guest in the valedictory function, Saleem Ur Rehman Director General Youth Services & Sports was presided over the function while Ranjeet Kalra Member BCCI and Shahid Parvez Sr. Cricketer and Selector were the Guests of honour.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Horizon Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 176 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Abhimanyu (player from Haryana) top scored with 82 runs including 7 boundaries & 3 sixes , while Jatin (41) and Paras Sharma (20 ) runs contributed to the total. From bowling side Tahir,Vivek and Irfan claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, KC Sports Club could not chased the target and managed to score 99 runs in 15.1 overs by losing all wickets thus lost the match by 78 runs. Arvind played a good innings of 27 runs, while Hisham(18) and Sidharth (10) contributed for the team. From Horizon Club,Sawan took 4 wickets, Suhail took 3 wickets and Jatin claimed 2 wicket.
Abhimanyu of Horizon XI was adjudged man of the match in the final match, Paras Sharma was declared Best Batsman, Vikram Dogra declared best bowler whereas Jatin was declared man of the series award for alround performance in the tournament.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player & Organizing Secretary of the event presented a detailed report about the ten day long tournament in which 12 premier teams of the Jammu participated covering around 192 players. He said that the main objective of the tournament is to engage youths and young cricketers in cricket in order to sharpen their cricketing skills so that they can perform well in the selection/national matches. and the slogan of the Championship was "Lets' play and Stay Healthy"
In his address, the Chief Guest Ashiq Bukhari CEO Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association announced that JKCA will prepare turf wickets in the parade cricket ground Jammu for the Local Cricketers so that they can play tournament matches in the turf wickets and prepare themselves for the national matches.
He also spoke in glorifying terms about Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player the Coordinator and organizing committee members for regularly conducting cricket tournaments at Jammu for the cricketers of all category.
Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman Director General of Youth Service & sports also assured the organizers for all assistance and support for conducting such type of events for the youths of the state in future also.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Ashok and Dyal.
