KATHUA, Dec 18: District Development Commissioner O P Bhagat convened meeting of District Road Safety Committee to discuss the District Road Safety Action Plan, Implementation of Road Accidents Data Management System (RADMS), Road Safety Auditing, availability of critical care ambulances and trauma hospitals in the district. The DDC directed the concerned officers to identify the black spots as defined by the MoRTH and rectification action should be taken by the Public Works Department of the State and NHAI/BRO on priority. He also asked for organizing awareness camps in Degree Colleges to sensitize students on helmet wear, non use of mobile while driving and importance on seat belts. DDC directed the Revenue authorities to identify 30-35 Kanals of land for the Motor Vehicles Department, Kathua for setting driving/fitness test ground, preferably around the RTO office. He directed the representatives of NHAI to identify encroachment or any act on part of any person rendering the highway impassable or less safe for travelling and take action as per the Act and seek assistance from the District Administration/ Police, wherever and whenever required. Among others, ADC Kathua Ghanshyam Singh, ADC Basohli T R Thapa, Regional Transport Officer Dr. R K Thapa, Deputy Commissioner Excise Toll Post Lakhanpur Pankaj Sharma, ACD Sukhpal Singh, Assistant Commissioner State Taxes Lakhanpur Ajeet Singh, CEO T R Mangotra, ARTO Neeraj Sharma, Lt. Col. S A Patil from BRO, SAMPARK, representatives of NHAI, principals of Degree Colleges, Engineers and Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies of the district were present during the meeting. |
