Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 7: Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board conducted a public hearing for Minor Mineral (River Bed Material) Projects at River Devak Upstream Railway bridge and Downstream National Highway bridge Vijaypur for Six Blocks. These are Block No. ¼ at village Vijaypur in 9.58-hectare area, Block No. 1/5 at a village Gura Slathia in 9.51-hectare area, Block No. 1/6 at village Thalori Brahmana existing on river Devak upstream Railway bridge Vijaypur and Block No. 1/11 at village Thalori Brahmana, Vijaypur 9.66 hectare area, Block No. 1/12 at the village Phulpur in 9.11-hectare area, Block No. 1/13 at Village Thalori Brahmana in 9.98 hectare area, existing on River Devak Downstream National highway bridge, Vijaypur,Samba. It is in compliance with the EIA notification issued by Ministry of Environment and Forest Govt. of India. The penal for said public hearing comprised of Dr Yash Paul, Sr Scientist, Head Lab, and State Board Analysts (Representative of Regional Director PCB, Jammu) CP Kotwal SDM Vijaypur and Angrez Singh Divisional Officer PCB Samba South. The public hearing was attended by a large number of people including public representative, Panchs, Sarpanches of adjoining Panchayats/ villages Gurah slathia, Vijaypur, Phulpur, Thalori Brahmana, etc. At the onset, Dr Yash paul, Sr Scientist, Head Lab, and State Board Analysts (Representative of Regional Director, PCB, Jammu) briefed the public present about the importance of conducting a public hearing. Various issues with relation to the said mining were raised and discussed by the general public during the course of proceedings. All the issues raised were discussed in threadbare and the queries raised were answered in detail by Anand Gupta consultant of project proponent from M/S Globus Environment Engineering Services. The proceedings of public hearing were recorded by videography and the public was assured to incorporate their genuine suggestions in the report to be sent to State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) for grant of the Environment Clearance. |
