DDC chairs joint meeting of BDC chairpersons, officers

KATHUA, Jan 8: District Development Commissioner, O P Bhagat, today asked all Chairpersons of Block Development Council of the district to priorities work plan under Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) in such a way that crucial sectors like power, health, drinking water and education could be focused and funds can be utilized in a proper way besides emphasis can be laid on water conservation and devising ways for holistic development of the villages.
The DDC was addressing a joint meeting of BDC Chairpersons, District Officers, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD, Block Development Officers and other officers of line department.
The meeting discussed various issues related to the formulation of action plan submitted by BDC Chairpersons, installation of Drop Boxes in all Panchayat Ghars, improvement in electricity distribution system, augmentation of PHE network, distribution of solar street lights in panchayats and road connectivity issues.
DDC also directed the ACD to immediately install drop boxes in every panchayat so that suggestions and complaints in villages can be redressed. He further advised the BDC chairpersons that they along with Sarpanch and BDO can identify beneficiaries under different welfare schemes and submit the list to the concerned department.
Awareness camps by different departments highlighting their schemes and benefits must be organized in every panchayat to percolate the benefits down to every villager, DDC said in the meeting.
He further stresses on completing all incomplete houses under PMAY (G) and IHHLs before March 2020 and asked the BDC chairpersons to expedite these constructions to achieve the objective.
The BDC Chairpersons raised various issues regarding the development of their respective blocks. They also demanded proper office space, banks and KVs in their blocks.
Later, a chart of Fundamental Duties and Preamble was also distributed among the BDC chairpersons.
ADC Kathua, Ghanshyam Singh, CPO, Uttam Singh, ACD, Sukhpal Singh, Dy. Dir. Employment, D C Bhatti, GM DIC, Babu Ram, CEO, CMO, CAO, DSWO, DSHO and BDOs were also present in the meeting.
