| Police officer, two militants nabbed on Highway | | | Anantnag, Jan 11: Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday nabbed arrested one of its own officer along with two Hizb Militants on Srinagar Jammu National Highway in Mirbazar area of Kulgam. Trio, according to highly placed sources, were on way to Jammu They said that on a specific input about the movement of militants and police officer on highway, DIG South Kashmir Atul Kumar laid a nakka on Srinagar Jammu National Highway at Alstop in Mirbazar area of Kulgam.
“Cops manning the nakka intercepted an i20 car and after immediate identification arrested two militants and a police officer who was accompanying them” a police officer said. Detained Police Officer has been identified as DySP Davendra Singh. Singh, a noted anti-insurgency officer, was posted as DySP Anti-hijacking at Srinagar International Airport.Two militants arrested during the operation have been identified as Naveed Babu and Asif Ahmad Dar of Shopian. Both are being said have their affiliation with Hizb Ul Mujahdeen. Early Times learnt from reliable sources that soon after the trio were arrested, a police party raided the residence of police officer in Shivpora Srinagar and recovered arms and ammunition from their. No police officer was available for comments as they didn’t attend repeated calls from ET. |
