PDP, NC train guns at Kashmir centric political rebels | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 12: Rebel leaders of Peoples Democratic Party appearing on the political scene in Kashmir has evoked sharp reactions from their parent party (PDP) and the National Conference. Soon after this group met the delegation of 15 envoys from different countries in Srinagar the PDP expelled them from the party. National Conference ridiculed these leaders and called them all names. They just fell short of terming them as traitors. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Most of the leaders who met the envoys and the Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu comprised of the PDP leaders, who were ignored by their party when it was in power." He said, "Now these leaders have got a chance to make their presence felt and they are making sure that they utilize this opportunity to come on the forefront and become a force in new political setup in the newly carved out union territory of Jammu and Kashmir." An observer said that PDP has become completely irrelevant as most of it leaders have deserted it or they have been expelled from the party. "National Conference second rung leaders seem to be clueless about how to run the party in absence of Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah as possibilities about them being released look bleak," the observer added. Another analyst said that emergence of Third Front in Kashmir has pinched the NC and PDP equally as the leaders of these parties during the past so many years had created a notion that their parties only can handle Kashmir. "That myth has been shattered as it has been proved beyond doubt that Centre can manage Kashmir better than the political parties, which added to the confusion by raising hollow slogans and projecting the formulas which were not practical and feasible," the observer added. He said, "Many people believe that road has ended for the politicians like Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti as there are no takers for their brand of politics. They can no longer say one thing in Kashmir and another thing in New Delhi. During the past three decades top PDP and NC leaders have thrived by talking the language of separatists in Kashmir and by projecting themselves as the sympathizers of the Pak stooges, who kept Kashmir on boil by selling dreams to people." The analyst said, "The new set of Kashmir centric leaders that has appeared on the political scene of the Valley are aware about the fact that situation has changed and their survival is linked to the narrative they set. They will have to toe the nationalist line to make sure that they are counted somewhere." |
