Kashmir centric leaders lock horns | | | Emergence of Third Front in Kashmir has triggered a war of words among the politicians in the Valley. The traditional parties, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have trained their guns towards the group being led by the former minister, Altaf Bukhari, in the PDP led regime in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. The new group, which met the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chander Murmu in Jammu and a delegation of 15 envoys that visited Kashmir last week, is being termed as a group of "traitors." The PDP leaders, who accompanied the businessman turned politician, Bukhari, were expelled from the party soon after they met the envoys. Two Kashmiri Congress leaders, who too met the envoys' were issued a show cause notice by their party. As the war of words between the new political group and second rung leaders of NC and PDP has intensified and allegations are being traded, people are watching a new episode of the political tamasha in Kashmir. It's high time for Kashmir centric leaders to realize that they cannot hoodwink the people anymore by blaming each other for Kashmir being in mess. The NC and PDP leaders in the past fed the people of Kashmir with slogans only and kept on telling them that Kashmir is a dispute and politicians only can resolve it. These Kashmir centric leaders thrived by selling falsehood and the biggest lie which they propagated was that they only can resolve Kashmir. The Government of India (GoI) by reorganizing Jammu and Kashmir has cut these politicians to size and has shown them their place by putting them under detention. The leaders, who signed the bond were set free by the administration, and are trying to become the part of the political process which has started in Kashmir. The ones who are looking towards their leaders and others continue to be under detention. The J&K administration seems to be in no mood to set anyone free, who could become a source of trouble and a threat for peace. Kashmir centric leaders need to realize that times have changed and they cannot sell rhetoric anymore. They have to look for practical solutions to pull the people of Kashmir out of trouble. They need to muster courage and tell people the truth that the role of local politicians is confined to governance only and they are no entities to poke their nose into the foreign affairs and policy of the Government of India. |
