Released from detention, Kashmir politicians ready to behave like ‘good boys’ | Purani He Tankhwa Pe Kaam Karengay! | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 15: Released from detention, some of the senior politicians of Kashmir, who otherwise used to be adverse to abrogation of the special status of J&K and had threatened of major protests, are now willing to quietly resume their political activities. While in the latest, atleast four politicians were released from house arrest on January 3, some others who were in detention have also been released. Sources said most such faces have conveyed it to their aides that they would resume normal political activities in their respective constituencies to look into the civic problems as faced by the people and that they would not utter a word against the abrogation of the special status. A close aide of a senior politician from KhanSahib Budgam told Early Times that “Neta Ji is willing to resume political activities.” “Detention proved a blessing as he is no more that arrogant nor talks anything anti-national. He is a changed man who wants to work like a true nationalist Indian politician,” said his aide on the condition of anonymity. Another leader, who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party has also pledged to resume his party activities in his constituency and won’t wait for the party to decide future course of action. Some of the politicians who were previously released from detention are already said to be active in their areas. These faces include leaders from Tangmarg and Anantnag. “Such groups are already active with their cadres planning future course of action,” said a source. It was reliably learnt that such politicians apprehend getting jailed if they don’t mend their “anti-national behavior and thus want to prove their nationalist credentials.” Despite repeated attempts the said leaders couldn’t be contacted for comments.
