Jammu, Feb 2: Over 600 rural children sat for scholarship tests today at the offices of Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET). The students were from classes 1st to 10th primarily from government schools. More than 80% students were girls. HBET aims to cover as many rural children as possible in and around Jammu in areas such as Hiranagar, Chak, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia, Ghou Manhasan, Saruinsar, etc. Scholarships will be given to 400 students out of 600 students. Besides providing scholarships to the students, they are also offered medical assistance, medicine. Mentorship & counseling is a regular feature throughout the year to educate and enhance their understanding of Life & Academics. Every year 50-70 new selected students are added for scholarship through written tests and home visits. Financially weak families having children from classes 1st to 3rd are welcome to contact HBET and apply for scholarship. |
