EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: Despite untimely death of 10 children and dozen other kids under treatment at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Ramnagar, the authorities concerned have yet to depute a child specialist in the health institution for Out Patient Department (OPD).
“The children like other patients are being examined and treated by the General Physician in the Hospital,” insiders of the Hospital informed.
They also said that innocent people coming to the Hospital have no knowledge that a paediatrician and general physician are different doctors and the hospital administration is simply taking advantage of this ignorance.
However, a very senior officer of Health and Medical Education Department when contacted in this regard down played this mismanagement.
Sources informed that a child specialist from District Hospital Udhampur was deputed for examining children at Ramnagar Hospital after 10 children died but till date no permanent child specialist has been deputed at Ramnagar hospital which means concerned authorities are not keen to address the grave situation in a professional manner.
“Why the government is not taking it seriously? Why are they not moved by the deaths of 10 kids?” asked locals when contacted.
There is lot of resentment among the locals in this regard while many organizations have appealed to the concerned authorities to take strict action against those behind the deaths of innocent children.
