Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 2: With total negligence on the part the Power Development Department (PDD) Rajouri, the unfenced PDD transformer, which has been lying close to the ground has been potentially posing life threat to local public.
The locals informed Early Times that, the PDD transformer, which has been installed in Peer Kanju of Ward No. 13 of Rajouri has become serious life threat for the people living nearby it. The area being highly populated, the PDD transformer has been placed openly just close to the ground and the livewires touches the ground.
“Required safeguards, while installing transformer, have been grossly ignored by the department. No fencing has been done to cover the transformer to avoid any untoward incident. There is a school nearby this transformer, where over 1500 students study and pass through this transformer only daily basis which can cause any incident, moreover, the area is very populated, yet department seems to be in deep slumber and waiting for any untoward incident to take place,” they said.
The locals alleged that many complaints were lodged with the concerned department, requesting it to take safeguard measures but their requests were taken for granted every time. Despite repeated calls to concerned XEn PDD Rajouri Munshi Khan, he didn’t pick up phone call.
