Early Times Report

Ramnagar, Feb 2: Infuriated over cutting down RBA reservation for residents of backward areas from 20 percent to 10 percent, activists of National Panthers Party today staged a protest demonstration.
Led by Shiv Dev Singh Provincial General Secretary and Pushpinder Singh Youth President was held at Ramnagar. While raising slogans the angry protestors accused the union territory govt to deprive RBA aspirants of their 10Pc quota in reservation.
While speaking Shiv Dev Singh said that announcing four percent reservation to Paharis, 10 percent for economically weaker section and likewise is a welcome step but curtailment of 10 percent quota to RBA category is totally unjustified and uncalled for causing strong resentment among the residents of backward areas.
The total reservation quota all over India except J&K is upto 60Pc after passing of legislation by the parliament for economically weaker section (EWS) where as in J&K it is upto 50Pc as per new reservation policy which needs to be enhanced upto 60Pc.
He further said that the people of remote and backward areas who led a very tough life having low educational avenues are very annoyed with the decision of UT govt and urged the lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu either to revoke this decision or increase 10Pc more to maintain the previous quota.
Among others present were Shiv Ram Sharma , Hukam Chand verma , Pawan Dev singh , Mohit mankotia , Rattan Chand , Kheem Raj Bhatia , Munish Sharma , Rajesh singh , Neeraj Rana , Akshay, Ashutosh Bandral , Chet Ram , Krishan Lal and Chanu Ram besides others.
