Kishtwar, Feb 3: Renowned political and social activist and President Public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Saddiqui today lambasted the PDD department for hike in monthly electricity tariff by over 100 percent.
Saddiqui in his press statement issued here today said that Kishtwar District is among the most power generating district in India, but in reverse Kishtwar has given nothing as far as electricity is concerned since many villages are still living in dark ages added that this is shameful for both present and previous governments.
He added that increase in tariff has created doubts among the poor consumers as they cannot effort the monthly electricity fair because they are hand to mouth due to lack of resources since majority of the population in Kishtwar District belongs to a labour class.
Saddiqui added that LG G C Marmu should look into the matter on priority in order to resolve the genuine issue on ground.
PAF President further said that installation of 10MVA for city and 6.3MVA transformer for Hatta in Mandal though already stands sanctioned will improve the electricity and will cut down the schedule of cuts in the vicinity of Kishtwar, but unfortunately the concerned department is deliberately delaying it's functioning reason best known to them in order to make inconvenience for the public of District Kishtwar.
