Wasim Majnoon Mir Early Times Report Kupwara, Feb 3: The tall claims of the successive governments regarding better health care services are seemed hollow as the Gynaecology OPD at Sub District Hospital Kupwara is being run by AYUSH doctors. The District hospital was established at Handwara, a tehsil headquarter of Kupwara, which had drawn resentment among residents of district headquarter. Moreover the hospital is understaffed. The hospital lacks requisite infrastructure, equipments, doctors and Paramedic staff. People from far flung areas like Machil, Keran, Jumgand, and Tangdhar often visit the hospital to get specialised treatment but unfortunately they are being duped on the name of specialists by the AYUSH doctors. According to sources, the 'AYUSH' doctors are prescribing a drugs of particular pharma companies. "Hospital is having a shortage of specialists in Gynacology, Paediatrics, Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Orthopaedics. The existing staff is very little to cope the rush of patients.", sources said. People of Kupwara demanded immediate stop of practice of these "AYUSH" doctors and said that BMO Kupwara has failed on all fronts and is supporting such activities. BMO Kupwara, Dr Zaffar, said that the Hospital is facing shortage of doctors as well as other staff. |
