Police arrest four militant associates from Khrew, Awantipora | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 3: Police today claimed to have arrested four people who are alleged to have links with banned militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). The arrested people are residents of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. A police spokesman today said that Awantipora police have arrested four militant associates who are linked to JeM. They have been identified as Mohammad Amin, Mohammad Rafiq and Fayaz Lone, all residents of Khrew-Pampore and Maqbool Dar resident of Awantipora-Pulwama. According to the police records, all the four arrested persons are involved in assisting the active JeM militants operating in the areas of Awantipora police district. During investigations, police said it has come to the fore that they were providing logistic support and shelter to the active militants of JeM including its commander Qari Yasir and his other associates who were recently killed in an encounter at Awantipora in Pulwama district. Cases under relevant sections of law stand registered at respective police stations and further investigation in the matter is in progress, police said, adding that they are investigating the role of four other persons for their involvement in supporting militant related activities in the area and providing support to the active militants of the area. |
