11 runners from Jammu take part in event

JAMMU, Feb 3: Among thousands of runners from India and abroad, who participated in AU Bank Jaipur Marathon held on the other day, 11 runners from Jammu made their mark, while Sham Suri blossomed by completing the Half Marathon in 1:47:05 to clinch bronze medal in above 56 years category.
The runners who successfully finished the Full Marathon included Neetan Kumar, clocking a timing of 3:56:13 and Rahul Sharma, completing the race in 4:56:13.
DySP Surinder Choudhary, who was podium finisher last year, also managed to finish the race in 1;53:32 despite injury.
The other runners who finished the Half Marathon successfully included Parveen Raina (2:19:1); Nikhil Bhat (2:05:06); Dheeraj Gupta (2:01:24); Mohit Sharma (2:01:55); Abhishake Sharma (1:45:50); Sahil Sharma (2:13: 57).
Priyanka Raina was the lone female runner who finished 10 Kms in 1:29:10.
More than 1,00, 000 runners from India and other countries took part in the event to vie for the top honours.
The theme of the Marathon was “Reason to Celebrate”, while the aim of the event according to the organisers is to make the people aware of health and fitness in order to make city fit and smart.
The event included the races of 42.195 km, 21.097 km, 10 km, besides 5 km Jaipur 5K Timed Run, 6 km Dream Run, 6 Km Youth Run and 6 km Joy Run.
